Archaeological Excavations and Objects

All archaeological excavations must be carried out under licence by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency

Archaeological objects discovered by the public must be reported to the NIEA or the National Museum (NI) or the Police detailing where and how objects are found.

Recently Council has been exercised by the problems of a lack of storage facilities for artefacts and a comprehensive integrated database of archaeological finds and will continue to discuss a way forward with the NIEA
